Orange Carrot Ginger Juice With a Twist

This past month we have had relatives visiting us from Italy.  So I knew it was going to be a packed month with working and showing them around and traveling.  So, I increased juicing to build up my immune system as much as possible, packing in powerful immune boosting nutrients.  Whenever I anticipate a little extra stress, wether it be physical or emotional, I really try to compensate with boosting up my immunity to make sure my body can handle it with ease.  Especially having a history of fibromyalgia (see my story here), even though I rarely suffer symptoms of it anymore, I always keep in mind my limitations to avoid flare-ups.  The raw food lifestyle is not a cure in the sense that if you stop applying good habits, old, past symptoms can and will return.

I really enjoyed experimenting with so many combinations of fruit, greens and veggies and I have many delicious juice recipes I will be sharing with you.  This orange carrot ginger juice is a potent mix of anti-inflammatory, cancer preventing, beautifying nutrients. Tumeric is a powerful spice filled with anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.  Carrots are an excellent source of vitamin A and other powerful health benefits that help with improved vision, cancer prevention and gives you that healthy GLOWING skin and healthy teeth and gums.  Bell peppers contain an exceptionally high content of vitamin C, and evidence suggests that bell peppers can help prevent cataracts due to the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin they contain.  Oranges contain a very good amount of minerals like potassium and calcium, and phytochemicals such as thiamine and folates.

Orange Juice With a Twist

Look at the amazing color of this juice! Isn’t it gorgeous?

Recipe:

Makes 32 ounces

1  Orange bell pepper, sliced ( stem removed)

3 Navel oranges peeled

8 medium-sized carrots

2 inch piece ginger root

1/2 tsp Turmeric

Put through a juicer and pour into a glass and drink up!

Health Benefits of Turmeric:

– Turmeric is a natural liver detoxifier.

– It has anti-inflammatory properties that works as well as many anti-inflammatory drugs, but without the side effects.

– It has been used as a natural treatment for arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

– Has been shown to stop the growth of new blood vessels in tumors.

– It may prevent metastases from occurring in many different forms of cancer.

– Reduces the risk of childhood leukemia.

    I just want to say first off, thank you for sharing this information. I am in the works of building my health back up. I experienced burnout from overworking and my body is in the process of healing. I just started juicing again after making some lifestyle changes and am working on building my body back to balance.     I had a double mastectomy and the lymph nodes removed under my left arm due to breast cancer in dec 2007. I had almost 2 years of chemo. I started juicing and eating more raw foods in the last 6 months.
    I still have terrible problems with my short term memory and I get tired easily. I haven’t had chemo for several years now. I have chronic pain from my upper back to the top of my neck, especially on the left side. I hate taking pain killers especially narcotic ones. I’m drinking freshly juiced apple and ginger juice as I write this. I did a little digging and cut a few limbs out of some trees this morning and I’m in awful pain. Will this ever go away? I’m only 48! Not ready to feel old and feeble yet by any stretch.

      My dear Rebecca,
      I’m so sorry you are dealing with all that!The best thing you could be doing is filling your body with the highest quality nutrients like you are doing with juices and also fresh raw fruits and veggies to build your body and help it heal. You are too young to feel that way! As a nurse I have seen awful effects from the chemo, but it doesn’t mean you have to suffer for the rest of your life from it. A proper diet and healthy habits can really help you improve to a great deal or depending on your situation even heal completely. I would love to talk with you more to explain how.     Hi, will yellow pepper do, i havent seen orange pepper in stores. Writing from South Africa

      Hi, I’ve used red bell pepper with it and it was just as good so I think yellow should be fine.I chose orange more for the color scheme to keep it bright orange but either will do. Enjoy!

    Nice recipe. Thanks for sharing.
    It is inspiring that a Nurse by profession encourages healthy living through nutrition!!!!! It could solve a lot of illnesses, in my opinion.
